I am ABMP. Lola Michelin, Shoreline, Washington. Member since 2006. BACKGROUND: I always knew I'd spend my life in the service of animals. One summer, working as a horse groom, I observed equine massage and realized it was what I was meant to do. I worked as an animal massage practitioner for 15 years before studying massage for people. I founded the Northwest School of Animal Massage in 2001. PERSPECTIVE: Nothing fulfills me more than working daily with animals of all species and in all states of health. My most inspiring work is teaching massage in shelter and rescue environments. BUSINESS GROWTH: The school succeeds because of its students, teachers, and employees. It adapts to the needs of the profession quickly while maintaining the quality of its programs. ABMP AND ME: Almost daily, I tell people to look into ABMP. I love the study tools available for my students and, of course, the insurance is a big factor for me professionally. I am amazed by the organization, the passion, and the innovation of ABMP's leadership. LAST WORD: An animal massage practice is unique in many ways, but the keys to success are the same as in any service business: always have integrity in your work and your words; always do your best; and always be grateful for what you have. Comprehensive liability insurance and practice support for massage and bodywork professionals and students. Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals 800-458-2267 • www.abmp.com
