Energy and the Integrative Vision
BY DAVID LAUTERSTEIN W
hen I began as a therapist in 1977, Swedish massage, shiatsu, Rolfi ng, Aston-Patterning, reiki, Feldenkrais, Alexander work, polarity, and craniosacral therapy were the modalities one mostly encountered.1
There
was a broad umbrella under which they all easily coexisted. As the massage and bodywork fi eld grew,2
its
proliferation gave rise to new modalities, new educational standards, more schools, more organizations, and various interest groups. Sometimes it has been diffi cult to see the forest through the trees, but it's still there.
