what's on the web BY LARA EVANS BRACCIANTE ABMP'S ONLINE EDUCATION CENTER Expand Your Options ABMP's Online Education Center is providing yet another way massage practitioners can obtain their continuing education credits: hour- long webinars designed to support bodyworkers. The webinars offer a wide range of business and therapeutic topics, as well as subjects of interest to school owners, educators, and students. Live sessions are offered to ABMP members at a variety of times to accommodate their schedules. Sessions are archived soon after the live webinars fi nish and can be accessed 24/7. Participants need only a computer to access the webinars. "Member response, since November 2007 when we launched these webinars, has been very positive," says Anne Williams, education director for ABMP. "We've had more than 8,500 attendees and wonderful feedback. With continuing education credit added into the mix, we expect even higher attendance as the word spreads." ABMP members can view webinars at no charge and earn one CE hour for just $12; nonmembers can view the webinars and earn one CE hour per webinar for $35. In September, ABMP celebrated its 50th webinar with World Massage Conference creator Eric Brown presenting "Social Media Marketing: Get More Clients by Socializing Online." Other presenters have included Laura Allen, author of One Year to a Successful Massage Therapy Practice, and notable massage educators like Ben Benjamin, Whitney Lowe, Til Luchau, Thomas Myers, Doug Nelson, and Art Riggs. Webinars geared toward massage school instructors/administrators include "Tips for Teaching Pathology" with Ruth Werner, "Tips for Teaching Business Classes" with Cherie Sohnen-Moe, and "Planning Great Orientations" with ABMP's Williams, to name just a few. In addition to the webinars, ABMP's Online Education Center offers on-demand courses for CE credit; many courses include audio, video, and dynamic features to make learning enjoyable and relevant. While these courses are available to anyone, ABMP members receive substantial discounts. All webinars and courses are NCBTMB-approved. information services for Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals. Contact her at lara@abmp.com.
