Cupping for Carpal Tunnel Cupping can alleviate problems created by carpal tunnel syndrome, according to German researchers. They conducted a test on 52 adults suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome, using evacuated glass cups to draw blood to the skin's surface. The cups were placed along the shoulder and upper back, overlying the trapezius muscle. Patients who received cupping reported an increase in quality of life and a reduction in disability compared with the control group, which received no cupping. The research was publishing in the June 2009 issue of the Journal of Pain (www.jpain.org). Henrioulle, a graduate of Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colorado, was most recently the dean of education at San Diego's International Professional School of Bodywork.
