BEST ADVICE
The road for new massage therapists is often
paved with uncertainties as their business
fi nds its way. Veteran massage therapist Mary
Davis has been there and offers this advice: be
patient with the process.
"Growth takes not only outstanding
customer service skills, but also time. Be
patient with yourself and your practice. I was
very fortunate to have a mentor when I was
just getting started in massage who told me,
'It's called a practice for a reason. Just keep
working at it.'
"Those fi rst few years are about building
the foundation of your practice and your
business. Creating a successful massage
business isn't diffi cult, but it does take
commitment and perseverance. Show up, both
physically and mentally, work hard, give your
clients your best, and genuinely care about the
people on your massage table. If you do these
things, your business can only thrive."
