The work group's report and recommendations are available at www.elapmassage.org. ELAP is a research project initiated by the Coalition of National Massage Therapy Organizations to address inconsistencies and challenges in the massage education fi eld, with the hope of alleviating problems such as employers having diffi culty fi nding qualifi ed applicants, graduates failing to achieve long-term career success, credential portability barriers, and more. The primary objectives of ELAP are to defi ne the knowledge and skill components of entry-level education and recommend the minimum number of hours schools should teach to prepare graduates for safe and competent practice in the massage profession. Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals (ABMP) has worked to further the massage profession through education and practitioner support since 1986, and played an active role in the ELAP process as a coalition member. In the coming months, ABMP will offer webinars for schools and instructors who want to use ELAP instructional design tools in their programs to stimulate curriculum improvement in key areas.
