compiled by Jed Heneberry Shiatsu Massage Helps Manage Fibromyalgia A recent study suggests that massage therapy can help reduce pain intensity, improve sleep quality, and increase the pressure threshold for patients with fibromyalgia. Subjects received a full-body massage twice a week for eight weeks, while the control group received an educational booklet. In addition to the positive results, 94 percent of subjects reported satisfaction with shiatsu massage. The study was conducted at the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil and will be published in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics. The abstract is available at www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23830713. www.abmp.com. See what benefits await you. 21
