BEST ADVICE Know Your Anatomy … … and Work from the Heart ABMP BizFit Tip ABMP member Juliebeth Mezzy has been an instructor at the Cayce Reilly School in Virginia for 13 years. She offers this advice to her students and to fellow therapists: "My advice to students: Know your anatomy. It will set you apart from those who skated by. "My advice to all massage therapists and bodyworkers: Be true to yourself. If you are massaging folks strictly for the income, that is what you will get. Money. When you give a massage purely from the heart, money will be the least of your concerns." Scholarships Available for Students Biofreeze and Biotone have introduced the Helping Hands Gifts for Growth grant program, which will award four $1,000 grants to massage therapy students to support their education and assist them in launching their careers. Students can apply for the grants at www.biotonebiofreezehelpinghands.com by November 1. In addition to the grants, the students' schools will receive an additional $500 grant as well as a $500 product package. Massage Without Borders, a charitable organization formed to help massage therapists in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, has also initiated a scholarship program for students currently enrolled in massage therapy programs. Applications will be accepted on a biannual basis at www. massagewithoutborders.org (click on "Adopt a Student") for three scholarships in amounts of $500, $1,000, and $2,000.
