Ann Steward partnered with Garden Way Retirement Community in Eugene, Oregon, to raise funds for an animal rescue organization called Welcome Home Animal Sanctuary. She offered chair massage to the residents in exchange for a donation of any amount to support the animal sanctuary. The owner of the sanctuary was so excited about the event, she came along and brought one of the animals as well. Wilbur the pig was a big hit, and had a great time at the event, grunting happily as he received lots of tummy rubs. "The event turned out to be one of the most memorable chair massage events I have ever done!" Steward says. The Mildred Elley Student Clinic at Mirror Images Spa partnered with the Capital District YMCA Circle of Champs Summer Kids Camp to celebrate EBDMW by donating a portion of their profits to fund a week of summer camp for a deserving child. The Circle of Champs program is dedicated to improving the quality of life for children who have been touched by a life-threatening illness. BodyWorks Wellness in Gainesville, Georgia, offered free 30-minute massages to all caregivers during EBDMW. "We're taking care of those who are taking care of others!" Heather McBride from BodyWorks says. Mona Escobar gave massages to local law enforcement officers in Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana. Bluewater Massage & Bodywork in Sheffield, Alabama, gave unlimited discounted massages during EBDMW to make massage more accessible to those in their local community. Balsam Rose Massage in Houston, Texas, gave complimentary massages to first responders, firefighters, and police officers to show appreciation for the beneficial work they do in keeping their community safe. Calm Bodies offered massage gift certificates at a discounted rate, with proceeds going to help a local charity.
